I had a lot of strange summer jobs growing up, including being a pet washer at a pet grooming store, telemarketing, being the clean-up man in the meat room of an ethnic supermarket, and working at a cemetery/crematorium. It was at this last job (not the greatest job, but the residents never complained about my work) that I learned Bartók's Piano Concertos #1 and #2. I played a recording of them over-and-over as I went about my work, Bartók, frankly, being more interesting than my co-workers.I hardly need to point out Sandor's mastery of Bartók's style. He is the pianist, outside of Bartók himself, most closely associated with the composer's works. As a bonus, these recordings have been released on Vox, which means you can get them quite cheaply.
