Well, J.E.G. and the E.B.S. make it back for another round this month. I had opportunity to revisit this recording recently and was reminded not only of how wonderful Gardiner's take is on these pieces, how clean, elegant and full of élan the E.B.S players play, but also of how full of unbridled joie de vivre the works themselves are. Handel's use of the horns, on top of all, was an inspired innovation and a welcome addition to the symphonic palette.
