In my opinion Mendelssohn ranks as one of the most underrated composers in history. Sure, we all know and love the MND and Hebrides Overtures, the 3rd and 4th Symphonies, and the Violin Concerto. But he wrote so much other great music, too. Have a listen to the absolutely enchanting lilt of the Song with Chorus from A Midsummer Night's Dream and see if you become an instant Mendelssohn convert. I hope you will. |
