This month's CCM features Pulitzer Prize winner George Walker, from his album George Walker • Composer • Pianist, found on the legendary Albany Records label. As the title suggests, Walker was, throughout his long career (he died in 2018 at the age of 96), a force in modern music-making as both a pianist and a composer. Stylistically he had his fingers in a lot of pies, but he always brought a great sophistication and brilliant craftsmanship to his work, and the results are often stunning and gorgeous. This month's clip features a work written for the Cygnus Ensemble, the complete first movement from the beautiful Modus.
