There was a time when the Boston Symphony Orchestra's strings were the most renowned in the country. That time is long gone, but listening to this historical 1928 recording gives an audible glimpse through the hisses and pops of the clarity of the playing. The double bass recordings are rather interesting, also. Though, the penchant for sliding - so popular at the time - is a bit much for modern tastes. |
