I've always enjoyed this recording a lot. When I was a freshman at Mannes College of Music, I worked for a while in the classical department of Tower Records. One night a lovely, elderly woman came in asking for me to recommend a nice recording of the Mozart Piano Concertos for her. I heartily recommended this collection to her. My colleague, Frank, recommended a different recording and we had a jolly good debate for her benefit. She finally agreed to my position and decided to get this recording; I moved on to my other work. Apparently a customer then told her that she didn't want this recording because it wasn't, in fact, the Mozart piano concertos, but rather a recording of Mozart's "fortepiano concertos!" She then called me a rather unsavory name and bought the other recording.

Ah, memories . . . !
