These symphonies represent the quintessential Sturm und Drang writings of Haydn. And yet, buried within, one may find the incredibly beautiful third movement of the Trauersinfonie, among other treats. Supposedly Haydn requested this to be performed upon his death; I actually used it as the processional music at my own wedding. Now that's flexibility!
