Occasionally, when preparing the CCMs, I glance through the previous ones to sort-of take stock of what I've done. Recently, when doing so, I was quite shocked to find that not only has Stravinsky—the most influential composer of the 20th century—appeared only once in the nearly 15 years I've been posting these, but that excerpt wasn't even a piece of music! To atone for this, I will start the new year off right by giving you the exact same Le Sacre du printemps excerpt, but this time let you hear the music! This is from one of the classic recordings of the work, Boulez's 1969 Cleveland Orchestra recording. Expect that we'll see Stravinsky represented more often than once every 10 years (my current average) in the future.
